Choosing electrical components
- What cable do I need?
- 6 mm² UV-rated DC cable is the standard for panel strings — ordinary house wiring perishes in sunlight. Length matters too: long runs lose voltage, so tell us the distance.
- Why fuses and surge protection?
- A DC fault does not clear itself the way an AC one does, and a nearby lightning strike finds the longest wire on the property — usually the array. These are the cheapest parts of a system and the ones nobody should skip.
- How many MC4 connectors?
- Two per panel-to-panel join, plus the string ends. Y-connectors parallel two strings — they are not a way to add another panel to a full one.
